Are you ready for the holidays? Well, they are here so you better get ready! The stores have been pushing sales on us since Halloween and “Black Friday” is now on Thanksgiving so you only have TWO DAYS left to prepare! Have you finished your holiday shopping? Have you even STARTED your shopping?!?! There are Christmas trees everywhere and RED and GREEN everything! Did you read those colors correctly? Look again. The word “red” is actually green and the word “green” is red. Just wanted to see if you were paying attention. I guess you are!
So, back to the holiday shopping. Are you going to shop on Thanksgiving or eat dinner with family? Do you do the cooking or just the eating? Are you having ham or turkey or both? Or neither? Or maybe you just want to hang out at home and watch the parade. Or are you one of the lucky people who get to work on that day and deal with the crazy people who stayed up all night and stood outside the store to be first in line? Be careful out there. That is a lot of questions, isn’t it? But aren’t we supposed to be thinking of something to be thankful for? In fact, we shouldn’t have to think very hard if it is something we are truly thankful for. What are you thankful for? It’s time to start thinking about how lucky we are that we have what we have and not be so worried about getting more. It has been an especially painful year for me because I literally lost half of my family. My sister and my father passed away in the past 12 months, and it really makes me grateful for what I have left. Do not take what you have for granted, or rather WHO you have. Things can be replaced, but people cannot, so make every day count and do not waste time complaining about what you do not have. As you sit down to Thanksgiving dinner two days from now, look around you and be thankful for what and WHO you have. Happy Thanksgiving! Just some of my thoughts.
