This pandemic has really got everyone's lives turned upside down. I am not a political person, but I think we need some better leadership if we are going to get back from this financial upheaval. So many people were forced to leave their jobs and have no income whatsoever. Sure, they will get unemployment, when it finally comes. It has been over three months and some people are still waiting. I cannot imagine how that feels. Through no fault of their own, they have zero income and for those without a substantial savings it can be a disaster. No money to pay the bills or buy food and no way to do anything about it. Before if you lost your job, you could go look for another one. Not anymore. Everything is closed and many of the companies have gone out of business. If I had the money, I would help pay everyone’s bills. But since I don’t, I think the government needs to step up and do more to help. Sure, they gave everyone a $1,200 stimulus check and some extra money for each kid. But that money was gone before they got it. When you think about it, many mortgages nowadays are about $1,000 or more so that is most of it right there. Now the government does not want to give anymore. What are people supposed to do? I mean, we are one of the lucky ones since my hubby is retired and gets social security. Plus, I work from home. But I lost several clients due to the closures of state parks and other closings. However, we are doing fine. I just feel so bad for those who are not doing as well. I have a suggestion for those who cannot work right now. Do some freelancing. Try Upwork.com, Freelancer.com, or Flexjobs.com. I know the pandemic is about people getting sick and dying, which is incredibly sad. But you can protect yourself from that. What you cannot protect yourself and your family from is the bills. How many people are having to choose between paying the electric or paying the mortgage? A lot of people are getting help with their bills and that is great. But it cannot go on forever. I know that these companies are going to say, enough is enough and start making you pay your mortgage and utilities again. Food banks are going to run out. What can we do? Any suggestions? These are just some of my thoughts…
