What do you think of when you think of Thanksgiving? Most people think about what they are going to serve for Thanksgiving dinner, how big a turkey they will need, which relatives they have to invite, etc. But, what about the “Thanks” part of Thanksgiving? Does anyone even do that anymore? Now it seems like everyone is just thinking about shopping. The “Black Friday” sales have turned into Thursday sales and people save up money all year to buy a huge TV or game system. Then on Thanksgiving day they hit the stores instead of spending time with family.
When I was younger our family all went to my grandparent’s house for a big delicious meal, but we all took turns saying one thing we were thankful for before we could eat. Ours were silly of course, when we were younger. One year I said I was thankful for the stocking full of candy I knew I would get on Christmas. And, one time my sister said she was thankful for her boyfriend, Bret. My parents didn’t think that one was funny and I think I made a gagging noise, but she was being honest. She was about 13, and he was all that she could think of. So, what are you thankful for? If you cannot think of anything, let me share some of mine that may give you some ideas. Here are 10 things to be thankful for.
So that is a sample of what I am thankful for. If you have a bad day, don't forget there is always someone out there that is having a worse one. And don't wish for more when so many others would be happy for what you have. Seriously. We are all pretty lucky. Just some of my thoughts.
